Vigilant Care Foundation. Vigilant Care Foundation salutes the many American physicians and surgeons who donate their precious time to helping children in all parts of the world. Frequently these care givers discover children who are sick, burned, injured, and living on the edge with severe birth defects. Many children cannot be helped due to the lack of skills available on scene. In those cases where a child is ambulatory and their physical condition permits travel to reach health care, these children may reach the referral desk of Vigilant Care Foundation. This is where Vigilant Care Foundation comes to assist in accessing world quality specialized surgical care and/or transportation. Without the doctors who donate their scarce time, without the precious few resources available and provided to the children:
- The children may go without treatment.
- Some children would have no chance for a full or normal life without
reaching medical teams of Surgeons and Medical Doctors who willingly donate their
skills.
Vigilant Care Foundation is fortunate to have physicians serving on its Board of Directors and as Consultants who have traveled the globe. Such professionals deeply understand the frustrations of the traveling physician who donate their time and skills to frequently rediscover a patient who cannot be helped due to unavailable skills on site. The second best choice is for the doctor to go to the patient, but this is often impractical. Vigilant Care Foundation believes in opting for a third choice in taking the patient to the care provider
at the lowest costs available.
We're dedicated to helping infants and adolescents access specialty medical-surgical services unavailable at the child's location. Sometime this is a simple airline reservation and ticket, while other times it is a bit more complicated with canoe ride, a jeep across a desert or helicopter airlift.
A Medical Director of Vigilant Society and a Practicing Physician (GP)
home based in Fort
Lauderdale is of Haitian decent and operates an orphanage
outside Port Au Prince for nearly a generation. While several Members of
the Board of Directors of Vigilant Society have created work projects in
Haiti for more than 35 years, all agree that of all the disasters which
have befallen Haiti during our life times in Haiti, the recent earthquake
is the worst we have seen. Haiti discovers it has real
neighbors in the world. While we have flown our private
aircraft into Haiti on hundreds of visits caring much needed medical and
relief food supplies to outlying areas as Jaqmel, Jeremy, Port duPait,
Cap Haitian our historical efforts are pale in comparison to today's
relief efforts. We have many wonderful
stories, memories of personal courage and failures of the Government
amidst today's sadness. We will be more than happy to share our private
Vigilant Society News Letter on request : info@vigilantsociety.com
When considering requests for assistance through the Foundation, considers criteria including: Availability and location of surgical medical skills to serve the infant, severity of the child's condition, impact of the requested service on the child's quality of life.
The Foundation functions through its donations and grants from Vigilant Society
and is therefore a Private Foundation of our Chairman, the Foundation strives to facilitate access for infants to health care services unavailable at their location.

Commentary -Vigilant Society Officers and
Directors have seen and witnessed the Christian goodness of the many
Missionaries who have worked in Haiti since the days of Papa Doc Duvalier
and his dreaded Tonton Macoutes secret police. While the facts of
the present case have not been openly presented, and the US has called for
a hands off policy, we must pray vigorously for the right outcome to these
charges. The right outcome must be just for the World is watching
all the actions made by the Government of Haiti and weighing and comparing the wisdom of their
decisions.
